I wish I had better intuition but…
Perhaps you’re someone who thinks: “I wish I had better intuition”….When it comes to beginning something as amalgamous as developing ones intuition, it is easy to feel overwhelmed, confused, unsure, or simply jostled about by the many paths towards inner knowing that are available to us.
Or on the flip side, perhaps you grew up in or are currently in a strict spiritual community that teaches you that your intuition can and should live outside of you. Perhaps inner knowing is for some reason, threatening, scary, or unbelievable. Does the word intuition make you think of, ghosts, for example? You’re not the only one, hon! In fact, intuition does touch upon the unseen forces around us. How awesome that we get to demystify the mysteries of the universe.
That is partially why I’m working on a free digital guide called Intuition is for Everyone (IIFE). Because it’s fun, because it’s awesome (awe-inducing), I need something to look forward to, and everyone deserves to feel connected to their inner knowing. Sign up to be the first to receive it!
Everyone has the ability to intuit, but it’s been smothered by the behavioral controls of our everyday capitalist society. The unfair realities many of us face. If we had a clearer line of sight into our inner knowing, we would be much less easy to manipulate into playing the role of consumer. With development, you get to take your power back, and decide if that inner knowing is real, what it’s made up of, and/or if the unseen is something to be feared, after all (spoiler: I don’t think so.) Or at least, when we are better tapped into our intuition, we can evaluate when fear is appropriate versus fearing everything we don’t understand beyond the veil of our conscious and everyday life. We grow self confidence, make more aligned decisions, and connect more deeply to ourselves and others.
If you’re the type to say, hey, I like mystery…some stuff I just do not need to know. Well, another thing that intuition brings us is more confidence. When we are attuned to our inner knowing, we’re more able to make decisions, create change, and sometimes even transform our lives into something better. Intuition is not just about being able to perceive that which is outside of typical perception. It is also about attuning to our inner voice, finding more meaning in life, and aligning with purpose that is driven by esoteric forces, perhaps the cosmic forces of the universe? JK, you don’t have to believe in that! Seriously, you don’t have to believe anything to develop intuition.
Though you may need to increase your ability to connect to your senses, your capacity for healing, and open your mind to nuance, experience, and marvel in order to develop your intuition.
My goal with sharing information and frameworks about developing intuition is to share free tools and introduce folks to what I do. Perhaps you are curious but feel somewhat disconnected from your intuition or need support tuning your radio to the frequency outside of your own mind. The good news is: the confusion is not your fault. This is simply confusing stuff.
The material systems we live within are designed to 1) operate invisibly and 2) keep us separated from our intuitive senses. Many of us are dealing with high levels of anxiety, depression and stress. Basic needs are not being met. It is very difficult to connect to intuition with the heavy weight of trauma and scarcity on our backs.
A lot of the foundational work that is helpful to intuition is healing work. Finding a loving support system (not just romantic), receiving therapy when possible, developing a physical practice (I guess they call it exercise), are examples of what many need before a dalliance with intuition! If you have a destructive pattern, are numbing out, or otherwise harming yourself, this is also something that needs to be faced alongside or before intuitive development. I don’t say this to accuse, I say it to note that the practices and services I offer as a Spiritual Facilitator (mentorship, psychic mediumship, creativity counseling, group work etc…) aren’t always right or enough. Folks who need therapy and somatic healing should go there first. My training is in the esoteric and the unseen.
A spiritual practices including rituals designed to connect you to self and other, curiosity of the unknown leading to more playfulness and care in life, pursuing meaning and purpose in the work you do and the relationships you cultivate, developing positive regard for others etc… can also help, even if you don’t ‘believe’ in spirituality.
While intuition can and does often relate to spirituality, developing intuition does not require one to be spiritual, religious, or esoteric. I am developing Intuition is for Everyone as a means of strengthening intuition, not to convince anyone of a particular belief. Belief, patterns, and knowing will come into play, but the point is never to convert. Perhaps to initiate readers into their own spiraling (a good thing), but no, not to change minds. The goal is for people to be able to begin:
building the skills needed to perceive subtle energetic information
experiencing the senses through an intuitive lens (lots of closing the eyes to open the inner eye, you know what I’m saying?)
engaging in self inquiry - there’s journaling, questions, reflection!
deepening practices that leads to healing (something that often happens alongside developing intuition) - meditations and breath included to help you along
deciding what of these concepts are compelling enough to first, consider, and then if aligned with your own sense, to act upon (there’s always more to be done)
